Waytonka Club raises money for local families in times of need, IOCP, Home Free Shelter, Wayzata High School scholarships and more.
The nondenominational group originally formed to support a missionary in China. The original 42 members met regularly at the Wayzata Bank, then later in the Wayzata schools, then at the Wayzata Country Club, Meridian Manor, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, and currently in different locations in Plymouth and Wayzata monthly.
The main purpose of the group is to have support local families in need, and health and wellness, especially in the local schools and to have fun doing it! In this endeavor, Waytonka has always supported Home Free, a local shelter for women and children. The Waytonka Club also provides financial and other support to Interfaith Outreach Community Partners (IOCP) and other groups. Waytonka Club has always provided scholarships to selected students intending to study the health or education fields. The first scholarship was $25. Currently Waytonka Club provides at least four scholarships annually at $1,000 each.
